Practitioners build IVS familiarity

Registered Valuers, insolvency professionals and reviewers align their work with the standards.

Why it matters

Valuation sits at the heart of insolvency and restructuring: it supports the evaluation of resolution plans, informs creditors and other stakeholders, and underpins confidence in outcomes. By notifying internationally recognised standards, the IBBI has aligned some of the highest-stakes valuation work in the Indian market with global best practice.

Who is affected

  • Registered Valuers and Registered Valuer Organisations (RVOs), whose work under the Code must now apply IVS;
  • Insolvency professionals and resolution applicants who commission and rely on those valuations;
  • Lenders, committees of creditors and investors evaluating resolution plans;
  • Audit and advisory teams reviewing valuation work performed under the framework.

Getting up to speed

For professionals who have worked primarily with local standards, the priority is understanding how IVS is organised and what it requires: the Valuation Framework (IVS 100), Scope of Work, Bases of Value, Valuation Approaches, Data and Inputs, Valuation Models, and Documentation and Reporting — plus the Asset Standards relevant to your practice. The IVS text itself, available from the IVSC, remains the authoritative source.
